International Patient Guide

Planning treatment abroad involves more than choosing a hospital. Learn what to prepare before travelling, how specialist review and treatment planning may work, what to consider during your stay and how follow-up can continue after you return home.

Before You Travel: What to Prepare

Planning treatment abroad involves more than choosing a hospital. Before travelling, it helps to gather your diagnosis or current medical concern, relevant medical reports, and any imaging such as X-rays, MRI or CT scans you already have. Previous treatment or surgery history is also useful, since it can influence which specialists and approaches may be relevant to your case.

You do not need everything before starting — sharing what you already have is enough to begin. Writing down your main questions and treatment goals in advance can also make specialist review more focused and useful once your case is being considered.

Specialist Review & Treatment Planning

Once your case information has been shared, it is reviewed to help identify orthopedic specialists and hospitals whose experience may be relevant to your condition. This is a coordination step, not a diagnosis — the specific expertise required depends on the diagnosis, imaging findings and individual circumstances involved.

Treatment planning, including whether surgery is appropriate and which approach may be suitable, is a clinical decision made by the treating specialist after their own assessment. Our role is to help you reach that assessment and understand the suitable options clearly, not to make the decision on your behalf.

During Your Stay

International patients often need support with practical matters around treatment — specialist appointments, hospital communication, travel and arrival coordination, and accommodation for the patient and any accompanying companion. These are the kinds of practical steps that are commonly coordinated around a treatment journey in Türkiye.

Medical care itself — examinations, procedures and hospital treatment — is provided directly by the treating specialist and hospital, in line with their own clinical protocols and your individual treatment plan.

Follow-Up After Returning Home

Recovery does not end when you leave Türkiye. Depending on the procedure and individual patient, follow-up may continue with the treating team while you are still in Türkiye, and may also continue with your own healthcare provider after you return home.

Staying in communication during this period — sharing how recovery is progressing and any questions that come up — helps keep your care connected across both locations.
